La Redondela, Huelva

La Redondela, the quiet corner of the Huelva coast

Just minutes from Isla Cristina, Lepe and Islantilla, La Redondela is a small town on the western coast of Huelva, perfect for those seeking sun, beach, great food and peace and quiet. Though today it belongs to Isla Cristina, it was founded much earlier and holds centuries of history, from Phoenician and Roman settlements to its time within the County of Ayamonte.

What not to miss

  • The 15th-century Mudéjar Hall, now an exhibition space.
  • The Huerta Noble Dovecote, an 18th-century columbarium for over 36,000 doves: the largest of its kind in Europe.
  • La Redondela Beach, 1 km away and quieter than its neighbours.
  • The Coastal Greenway, a walking trail through marshlands all the way to Ayamonte.
  • The craft brewery and Rubens garden, with a restaurant, terrace and sunsets.

Festivals worth experiencing

San Sebastián Day (January), the Huerto festival on Easter Sunday, the Romería de la Esperanza pilgrimage (last weekend of June) and the Patron Saint Festivities in the first week of August.
